Women Clergy

I found this article to be interesting, although I still feel that there is discrimination based on pay and size of churches that women get. Baby steps...

Environmentally Friendly

If you've known me for any amount of time, you would know that I've been a strickler about recycling for over 20 years. So in honor of saving the planet, here are some sites I'd recommend:

- To recycle DVD cases

- To find out where you can properly dispose items such as hazardous materials (paint, paint thinner, other chemicals, etc.) and electronics and much more

- Staples will dispose of electronics for $10 per item

- To dispose of old medications/prescriptions.

- Or another option instead of tossing your items, post them here where you can give and get items for free.

Do you know of other earth-friendly options?

Arizona... why do you shame me again?

Conversations about Race

I read this article from Newsweek and found it quite interesting. When was the last time you talked about race to a child? When was the last time you talked about race to anyone? When was the last time you talked about specifics rather than generalities when referring to equality?

Grain of Salt

It's been really annoying that the drama over Obama's speech to students that will happen tomorrow night is really unnecessary. I speculate that it's most likely not about the speech itself, and not even that a Democratic, African American president is speaking to students. It could be that the opposing political party just is making a fuss. For the record, George HW Bush and Ronald Reagan spoke to students as well and there was a bit of fuss over HW's speech as well. Even famed educator Laura Bush and NASCAR support the speech.

I think that it's also probably waving candy at the general American public to get their minds off of the health care debate.

The speech is fine. Why don't we get back to the real issues, such as healthcare.
